Fishing Licences & Permits:
In order to fish in Spain you need a Regional Licence (licencia de pesca). Most tackle and bait shops have the forms and can help you fill them in prior to application at the Regional Office. The price is around 12 euros.

If you wish to fish in reservoirs, rivers & estuaries, such as the Ebro, an angling licence is required. You can obtain one from an office of the 'Delegación Agencia Medio Ambiente' (AMA) in Tarragona, or from a branch of the Caja Rural bank. Fishing maps are often available from tourist offices.

In addition to the licence, you may also need a permit. Some waters in Spain are public, and some are private. They fall into three categories: Libre (free) - no permit required: Cotos (restricted) permits required but are allocated and not available to all; Intensivos (fisheries) - permits required and usually available from the nearby bar/shop.
